I have the utmost confidence in Mr White and his team. The procedures prior, during, and after my recent surgery were top class, the surgery has been a complete success, and my time in the QMC was second to none. Mr White has always discussed my surgery with me in non-medcal, easy to understand terms. I totally recommend Mr White in whom I have great faith.

I saw Mr White as a tertiary referral from my Neurologist. I have a rare condition as a result of previous chemotherapy/radiotherapy nearly 3 decades ago which saved my life but has left me with severe progressive late effects. Mr White is an exceptional man, he is totally patient focussed, kind, caring and sensitive. He listened to me very carefully made me feel immediately very comfortable and confident. He was honest and was open to my opinion and thoughts which I truly appreciated. He is the first Consultant in almost 30 years of care in the NHS (for which I am eternally grateful) who immediately volunteered his personal contact details and asked me to keep in touch by e-mail. A small gesture maybe but means so much. Indeed I sent by e-mail some requested information on Sunday afternoon after my consultation that week and first thing Monday morning Mr White replied personally. The world and indeed the NHS would be a much nicer place if we had more Mr Whites. I would not hesitate in reassuring anyone being referred to Mr White they are seeing the best person possible whom will give you as much time as you need and the best possible professional service. Many thanks from a sincerely grateful patient.

I was under the care of Dr White during a recent admission to Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham. I have a Grade 3 Astrocytoma and associated cyst, which had been causing me big problems - headaches, sickness, loss of feeling down one side. Dr White was very reassuring and the first doctor to talk about a personalised care plan specific to my needs. This made me feel like an individual and that my care would address the problems rather than the steroid approach that I have been on for many months now. Dr White was attentive and patient. He spent a good deal of time with me in the hospital and talked through each detail of my care during admission, explained it clearly in language I could understand, and he listened. He also talked of options within my care which until now have not been discussed - this has given me hope and confidence that my care will be thorough and that I will be core to the decision making process. I have recently been transferred to the medical team in Nottingham and my experience with Dr White has given me much needed confidence for the future.

I have been extremely impressed with the total care I have received from Mr Barrie White from the first time he saw me as a patient in February 2013. From the results of the MRI Scan, Mr White very carefully outlined that surgery was necessary. He not only explained in detail the benefits of surgery but also the risks associated with operation on the spine. From this first appointment I felt at ease and comfortable with Mr White's advice even though this was the first time a consultant had suggested surgery as an option. (My problem had been on-going for over 5 years and i had seen a number of different consultants in this time). I was allowed time to consider the option of surgery and Mr White was also happy for me to seen him again to answer any further questions I had. After seeing Mr White again I felt I was able to make an informed decision. Mr White again carefully explained what he believed was the cause of my problem, that was affecting my legs and making it difficult for me to walk. After electing for surgery I was admitted to Queens Medical Centre on 26th June 2013 and Mr White performed a D10/11/12 laminectomy to decompress the spinal cord. Following surgery, Mr White personally contacted my wife to let her know that everything had gone well. I remained in hospital for 7 days and was very pleased to see and speak to Mr White on most days. I felt very reassured by this. Overall I would like to thank Mr White and his team (and the Neuro-Spinal Post-operative Unit) for the wonderful care and attention I have received all the way from pre-op to post-op.

I have just been discharged from the Q.M.C. having had my last M.R.I. scan checking on my coiled ruptured aneurysm and a small un-ruptured one (that luckily ) hasn't changed in appearance. I, and all my family would like to say a huge thank you to Mr .Barrie White and all his team for saving my life. two years ago .
